Dr. Abu Shama is the former Minister of Interior of the Republic of Sudan. Holding a Ph.D. in Crime Science, he has authored numerous research publications and scientific books focusing on criminology and police sciences. Dr. Abu Shama's research interests encompass human trafficking, security engineering, combating child trafficking, and violent crimes. With over two decades of experience within the Sudanese Ministry of Interior, he has held various roles both in the field and office settings. Dr. Abu Shama's expertise has been sought by international organizations and centers, he held positions as a visiting expert for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Ottawa, Canada), the International Organization for Social Defense Research (Rome), and the Arab Organization for Social Defense Against Crime (Casablanca, Morocco), The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, and the International Center for Penal and Penitentiary Research in Italy. He has also served in key positions including Acting Minister of Justice, Director of Capital Police, Director of the National Criminal Research Center, Acting Director of Central Criminal Investigation, and Advisor to the Ministry of Interior of Kuwait. In academia, he has lectured at esteemed institutions such as the University of Khartoum, the Police College in Sudan, the Institute of Criminal Administration in Abu Dhabi, and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Riyadh.
