About the Association

The Arab Society for Forensic and Forensic Sciences was established on 6/4/2013 AD by the decision issued by the University’s Supreme Council, as a specialized body that constitutes an Arab scientific security addition, and fulfills the aspirations of Arab specialists in the field of forensic medicine and forensic evidence.

The association aims primarily to develop criminal work and enhance the professional competence of workers in the fields of forensic science and forensic medicine in Arab countries, through unifying work standards, holding specialized conferences, courses, and seminars, as well as contributing to disseminating the scientific output of specialists in this aspect, and dealing with With high professionalism and the latest challenges of the present and the requirements of the future.







Association Editions

The association aims to publish innovative research and scientific publications in the fields and applications related to forensic sciences and forensic medicine, enrich and develop scientific research in related disciplines, share experiences in forensic sciences and forensic medicine, address contemporary issues, and follow the trends of the scientific movement.

Most notable releases

(The Arab Journal of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine), which is considered one of the most important publications of the association. It is a peer-reviewed journal that uses the Arabic and English languages for publication (ISSN 1658-6786) and applies the principle of open access (CC BY-NC) to develop and apply forensic science, forensic science, and research, it is also classified in many international indexes, the most important of which are Scopus and DOAJ. Association tasks



  • Encouraging the conduct of scientific research in its field of interest, and publishing and distributing the results of this research.
  • Holding conferences, forums, seminars, and scientific seminars to discuss issues related to the association’s areas of interest.
  • Introducing the scientific and professional achievements of Arab specialists in the fields of forensic sciences and forensic medicine through certificates and awards of appreciation.
  • Issuing a semi-annual scientific journal covering the fields of forensic science and forensic medicine to enrich and develop scientific research in these fields.​
  • Enhancing friendship and cooperation between workers in institutions and associations working in the fields of forensic sciences and medicine at the Arab and international levels.
  • Providing academic assistance to universities, colleges, institutes, and planning bodies to develop programs and curricula related to the fields of forensic science and forensic medicine.
  • Encouraging the use of a unified methodology for work in the competent authorities in the Arab world, through the implementation of unified policies, accreditation and recognition procedures for institutions, and practice certificates in the fields of forensic sciences and forensic medicine.



Memberships

The association includes in its membership forensic and forensic medicine specialists and experts in the government sector and the private sector, academics, and practitioners of relevant specialties in Arab countries.
The Arab Society for Forensic and Forensic Sciences grants academic and practitioner specialists the following:

Active Membership

For this membership, the membership applicant must have an academic qualification in the association’s specialty, specifically a doctorate, master’s, or advanced specialty degree, from a university recognized by the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. The active membership subscription fee is 100 Saudi riyals or 25 US dollars.

Honorary Membership

Honorary membership is granted to those chosen by the association who have provided the association with valuable services or contributed to the development of its areas of interest, whether moral or material services. The honorary member is chosen by the decision of the General Assembly based on a nomination from the Board of Directors.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate membership is granted to both working university graduates and those interested in the association’s field who do not meet the academic qualification requirement specified for active membership. The subscription fee for affiliate membership is 100 Saudi riyals or 25 US dollars.

Arab scientific working groups specialized in forensic sciences

The association is working to form the nucleus of an Arab body specialized in forensic sciences and forensic medicine, which includes specialized experts in the fields of forensic sciences and forensic medicine, to issue guidelines and standard operating procedures as references for Arab institutions working in the fields of forensic sciences and forensic medicine at the local level. Arab and regional, to be a reference for Arab institutions working in forensic and forensic sciences, and to develop the professional competencies of workers in these fields.


 The association includes (6) Arab scientific groups specialized in forensic sciences, which are:


  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Crime Scenes
  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Forensic Toxicology
  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Digital Forensic Evidence​​
  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Forensic Entomology.
  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Forgery and Forgery
