About the Society​

The Arab Society for Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine was established on 4/6/2013 by a decision issued by the University's Supreme Council as a specialized body that represents an additional Arab security scientific entity and fulfills the aspirations of Arab specialists in forensic medicine and forensic sciences.

The Society primarily targets the development of criminal work, enhancing the professional competence of those working in forensic sciences and forensic medicine in Arab countries by unifying work standards, holding conferences, courses, seminars, and specialized workshops, as well as contributing to the dissemination of scientific output of specialists in this field, and dealing professionally with the challenges of the present and the requirements of the future.







The Society Publications

The Society aims to publish innovative research and scientific publications in fields and applications related to forensic sciences and forensic medicine to enrich and develop scientific research in related disciplines, exchange experiences in forensic sciences and forensic medicine, address contemporary issues, and follow scientific movement trends.

Key Publications

The Arab Journal of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine is one of the most important publications of the Society. It is a refereed journal that publishes in both Arabic and English (ISSN 1658-6786) and follows the principle of open access (CC BY-NC) to develop and apply forensic sciences and forensic research. It is also classified in several international indexes, most notably Scopus and DOAJ. Scientific Production

The Society Tasks 



  • Encourage the conduct of scientific research in its field of interest and disseminate and distribute the results of this research.
  • Hold conferences, forums, seminars, and scientific workshops to discuss issues related to the Society's areas of interest.
  • Introduce the scientific and professional achievements of Arab specialists in forensic sciences and forensic medicine through certificates and awards of appreciation.
  • Issue a Biannual Scientific Journal covering forensic sciences and forensic medicine to enrich and develop scientific research in these fields. ​
  • Promote friendship and cooperation between those working in institutions and societies working in the fields of forensic sciences and medicine at the Arab and international levels.
  • Provide academic assistance to universities, colleges, institutes, and planning entities to develop programs and curricula related to forensic sciences and forensic medicine.
  • Encourage the use of a unified methodology for work in the competent authorities in the Arab world by implementing unified policies and procedures for accreditation and recognition of institutions and certificates of practice in the fields of forensic sciences and forensic medicine.

Memberships

The Society includes in its membership forensic and forensic medicine specialists in the public and private sectors, academics, and practitioners of related disciplines in Arab countries.
The Arab Society for Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine grants academics and practitioners the following memberships:

Active Membership

This membership requires the applicant to hold a scientific qualification in the Society's specialty, specifically a Ph.D., Master's, or advanced specialization degree from a university recognized by Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. The subscription fee for active membership is 100 Saudi Riyals or $25.

Honorary Membership

Honorary membership is granted to those selected by the Society who have provided valuable services or contributed to the development of its areas of interest, whether moral or material. Honorary members are chosen by the General Assembly based on the nominations of the Board of Directors.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is granted to university graduates working and interested in the Society's field who do not meet the scientific qualification requirement for active membership. The subscription fee for associate membership is 100 Saudi Riyals, or $25.

Specialized Arab Scientific Working Groups in Criminal Sciences:

The Society aims to form a nucleus for a specialized Arab entity in forensic sciences and forensic medicine, comprising specialized experts in forensic sciences and forensic medicine fields. The goal is to issue guidelines and standard operating procedures as references for Arab institutions working in forensic sciences and forensic medicine at the local, Arab, and regional levels. This will serve as a reference for Arab institutions working in these fields and contribute to the professional development of those working in them.


The Society includes the following six specialized Arab scientific working groups in criminal sciences:

  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Forensic Toxicology
  • Arab Scientific Working Group for Digital Forensic Evidence ​​
