​​​Master of Science Program in Forensic Sciences

The program offers specialized knowledge and practical skills in forensic genetics, forensic chemistry, and toxicology. It aims to furnish forensic laboratory personnel and toxicology analysts with scientific expertise and practical skills aligned with international standards. Furthermore, it fosters a deeper comprehension of legal dimensions and provides expert certificate in forensic sciences practices.



1 Special Admission Requirements:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree in forensic sciences or natural sciences (chemistry, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, clinical laboratory sciences), or equivalent.
  • Forensic Genetics and Molecular Biology Track: general biology or animal biology, general microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, clinical laboratory sciences) or equivalent.
  • Obtaining a minimum score of 5.0 in the IELTS language test or its equivalent in standard English language tests.
  • Successful completion of a personal interview.

Graduation Requirements

Successfully completing the required program hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 out of 5.00 within the specified timeframe necessary to fulfill the requirements for obtaining the academic degree.​

2 Program Objectives:

  • Deepening knowledge and specialized applied skills in forensic genetics, forensic chemistry, and toxicology.
  • Conducting forensic laboratory analysis in accordance with international standards for forensic laboratories.
  • Enhancing understanding of legal aspects and expert certification related to forensic sciences practices and applying methodological procedures in crime scene examination and evidence seizure.
  • Providing advanced scientific and practical qualifications to personnel working in forensic laboratories and toxicology analysis labs, according to globally recognized standards.

3 Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Interpreting DNA analysis results and producing technical reports with high efficiency.
  • Utilizing genetic statistics to determine the discriminatory power of biological evidence.
  • Applying advanced methodologies and techniques in extracting and amplifying forensic DNA and determining its genetic traits.
  • Applying scientific principles in forensic DNA analysis.
  • Scientifically interpreting analysis results and preparing technical reports with high efficiency.
  • Applying modern methodologies and techniques in forensic toxicology analysis, drug analysis, explosive residues, and fire accelerants.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with scientific principles in toxicology, drugs, and chemical sample extraction and analysis at the crime scene.
  • Conducting forensic laboratory analysis in accordance with international standards for forensic laboratories.
  • Applying methodological procedures in crime scene examination and evidence seizure.

Forensic sciences are one of the most important applied forensic sciences that the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences has given attention to since its inception. This is because they are the most important tool in criminal investigation and the administration of justice. The university began with the name "Forensic Laboratories", and then the College of Forensic Sciences. Recently, and in line with the university's strategy and ongoing development projects, these sciences have been placed under the umbrella of the College of Criminal Justice in an independent department that seeks to provide outstanding academic programs in the Diploma, Master's, and Doctorate levels in various specializations of forensic sciences. This is aimed at professionally and academically qualifying experts and workers in the criminal field in a way that enhances their scientific and practical capabilities.
