Higher Diploma Program in Cybercrime and Digital Forensics

Cybercrime is on the rise, diversifying in patterns, and evolving in methods as technology advances and digital transformation expands, driven by the growing number of internet users. Reflecting NAUSS mission as an Arab and regional institution dedicated to preparing, qualifying, and enhancing the skills of specialized personnel in security sciences, the establishment of the Higher Diploma Program in Cybercrime and Digital Forensics aims to bolster the capabilities of specialists in cybercrime and digital forensics. The program provides advanced skills in uncovering digital evidence, thereby facilitating effective assistance in investigative endeavors.

1 Special Admission Requirements:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields, or information technology, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Attainment of a minimum score of 4 in the IELTS test or equivalent standardized English proficiency test.
  • Successful completion of a personal interview.

Graduation Requirements

Successfully completing the required program hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 5.00 within the specified timeframe necessary to fulfill the requirements for obtaining the academic degree.

Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations - Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

2 Program Objectives:

  • Deepening students’ knowledge and skills in cyber incident response and digital forensics.
  • Preparing qualified experts and personnel capable of contributing to achieving security and justice, cybersecurity; reducing, combating, and investigating cybercrime.

3 Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Applying relevant laws in digital investigation cases and demonstrating high ethical standards during official procedures.
  • Implementing strategies for the seizure, handling, and preserving of digital evidence to maintain its integrity.
  • Applying relevant laws in digital investigation cases and demonstrating high ethical standards during official procedures.
  • Executing security measures to prevent security breaches and cyber threats.
  • Comparing stages of criminal procedures and analyzing criminal lawsuits.
  • Utilizing investigation skills for digital forensics, encompassing prevention, detection, analysis, and investigation of cybercrime.
  • Applying theories, processes, and professional practices in digital forensics and cybercrime investigations.
  • Establishing connections between psychological aspects of the investigation and technical aspects specific to cybercrime.

Forensic sciences stand out as one of the pivotal applied disciplines within criminal justice, a priority at NAUSS since its inception due to its pivotal role in criminal investigations and the pursuit of justice. Initially established as "Forensic Laboratories”, it later evolved into the College of Forensic Sciences. Recently, in alignment with NAUSS strategic vision and ongoing development initiatives, these disciplines have been integrated into the College of Criminal Justice as an independent department. This department is dedicated to offering distinguished academic programs at higher diploma, master's, and doctoral levels, covering various specializations within forensic sciences. The overarching goal is to professionally and academically prepare experts and personnel in the field of criminal justice, enhancing their scientific knowledge and practical skills.
