Naif Arab University organizes the Second Forum on Education and Training in Security Institutions

Work of “The Second Forum on Education and Training in Security Institutions" was launched today, Monday 8th November, at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) campus, under the theme (Towards Developing a Unified Arab Strategic Vision for Security Education and Training). The Forum was organized by NAUSS within the framework of its academic program for the year 2021 from 8 to 10 November 2021.

 

Specialists from security educational institutions in 11 countries participated in the forum: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, Sudan, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, and Mauritania, in addition to the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

 

At the opening session, His Excellency the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al-banyan, gave a speech in which he explained that this forum, which had attracted a distinguished academic body, occurred out of the keenness to participate in strengthening educational systems in security institutions, in order to consolidate the university's mission and goals, through which it aims to exchange experiences, transfer information, refine skills, and develop the capabilities of employees of the various Arab security services.

 

 

 

His Excellency expressed his hope that the forum would conclude with academic and practical recommendations that would achieve its objectives and enhance the security culture by enriching visions and ideas and exchanging experiences, especially in light of the wide Arab participation in the forum activities.

 

The first session of the forum, chaired by His Excellency Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr. Mohammad Bin Ali Kuman, was a panel discussion entitled “The requirements for Arab cooperation in the domain of security education and training". The forum discussed over three days the following themes: The future of security education and training: An international perspective; The mechanism of adapting education and training programs to face future security threats, evaluating and raising the quality of the outputs of security education and training programs in accordance with the practices of accreditation bodies; and the role of modern technologies in developing and strengthening security education and training programs.

 

Among the most important academic papers that the forum discussed were: (Foreseeing future security threats), (The mechanism for adapting education and training programs to face these threats), (Developing education and training programs in line with the emerging security threats and challenges), (International experiences in preparing and implementing Security education and training programs) and (The role of modern technologies in the field of security education and training), (Modern technologies in the field of effective security education and training), (Artificial intelligence and its applications: virtual labs), (Simulation systems) and (E-learning platforms).

 

Presenters of academic papers in the forum included, in addition to employees of the relevant Arab authorities, experts from the European Union Law Enforcement Training Agency, the International Criminal Police Organization, the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center, the United Nations Office for the GCC, Case Western University, City & Giles for the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, Microsoft Corporation, and IBM Corporation.

 

The forum aimed to foresee the threats to common Arab security and  the means to confront them through security education and training programs, to have access to the best policies and practices to evaluate and raise the quality of the outputs of security education and training programs, and to discuss the requirements for cooperation between Arab countries in the domain of security education and training to face common challenges. In addition, the forum aimed to develop a unified Arab strategic vision for security education and training.
