​The Council of Arab Interior Ministers approved, at the conclusion of its work in Tunis, the establishment of a team of Arab experts concerned with monitoring and exchanging information on terrorist threats.  This includes analyzing these threats, creating a guiding mechanism to prevent terrorist fighters from moving to conflict areas and flashpoints in the Arab region, and laying measures for dealing with their returnees.
The Council also approved the establishment of a permanent committee for criminal statistics, within the boundaries of the General Secretariat of the Council.

The Council also approvedthe report on the work of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) in itsthirty-seventh and thirty-eighth sessions. The Council expressed its appreciation  for the constructive support the university receives from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.  The Council also expressed gratitude to of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, Honorary President of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, and Chairman of the Supreme Council of NAUSS, for his generous patronage of the various activities of NAUSS and for his efforts in supporting this Arab academic security institution.

 

 

Within the framework of the existing cooperation between the Arab Interior Ministers Council and their counterpart ministerial councils in the Arab League, the Council agreed to hold another meeting for the joint committee consisting of experts and representatives of ministries of interior and justice in Arab countries. This aims to discuss the issue of criminalizing ransom payments to terrorists, and to form a joint working group of representatives of the ministries of interior and tourism in Arab countries to reformulate the model Arab strategy in the field of tourism security in light of the visions of the member states.

The Council mandated the General Secretariat to carry out the necessary coordination with the Human Rights Department at the General Secretariat of the Arab League to prepare a draft Arab guidebook against torture in light of the views of the member states.

 

 

 

At the end of the session, the Council issued a declaration that included its deep satisfaction with the results of the Al-Ula summit, which establishes a new era of brotherhood and cooperation relations for the Gulf Cooperation Council  (GCC) and all the Arab world. It also expressed its appreciation for the wisdom of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, and other leaders of the GCC and Arab countries, for their sense of responsibility and keenness for Arab unification, in addition to recognizing the efforts made by the State of Kuwait in this regard.

 

The Council praised the valuable initiative presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to resolve the crisis in the Republic of Yemen and urged all parties to accept it as an appropriate way out of the crisis. the Council also highlighted  that the initiative fulfills the interests of all Yemeni people and is consistent with the Gulf initiative, its implementation mechanism, and the outcomes of the Yemeni nNational Dialogue and Security Council Resolution No. 2216.

 

The declaration also included a condemnation and denunciation of the systematic and deliberate hostilities and sabotage carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia against Yemenis and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition totheir threat to civilians and vital civilian installations.  This was also a condemnation of attempts to target oil installations that do not only target the Kingdom and its capabilities, but also threaten the nerve of the global economy and energy security.

The Council expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its full support for it in facing these terrorist actions and attacks, and its absolute support for the measures it takes to preserve the security and safety of its people and residents on its soil.

 The Council expressed its full support for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen and voiced its appreciation for the efforts the Coalition is making to restore the Yemeni government and confront the Houthi terrorist militia coup.

 

The Council expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the repeated Iranian provocations in the territorial waters of Arab countries. It also stated its firm condemnation of Iran's practices aimed at destabilizing security and stability in many Arab countries, undermining the peaceful coexistence between the components of Arab societies, and emphasized its support for the measures taken by Arab countries in confronting them.

 

The Council renewed its firm condemnation of terrorism, regardless of its forms or sources, and its condemnation of all terrorist acts and all forms of support, financing, and promotion of terrorism. It also affirmed its determination to continue combating terrorism, addressing its causes, and mobilizing all efforts and capabilities to eradicate it and strengthen Arab and international cooperation in this field.

 

The Council expressed its deep appreciation for the impressive performance of the personnel of security and civil protection and civil defense agencies in Arab countries in facing the emerging Corona virus, and their vigilance to implement quarantine measures, and its appreciation for the great efforts they make in this field.

 

 

The session was held virtually. His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Honorary Chairman of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, presided overthe opening  and delivered a significant speech.. Then the Secretary General of the Arab League,  and His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, continued the session.

 

The session witnessed wide participation by their Highnesses and Excellencies the Arab Interior Ministers, the Arab League, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Federation, in addition to high-level Arab security delegations.

 

The Council discussed several important issues and topics and took appropriate decisions regarding them. According to these decisions, the Council approved a draft of a tenth Arab security plan and an eighth Arab media plan for security awareness and crime prevention, in addition to a draft seventh interim plan for the Arab Traffic Safety Strategy, which will be implemented during 2021-2023..
