Naif Arab University participates in the International Conference for the Recovery of Stolen Assets in Iraq; the president of NAUSS visits Iraq's Ministry of Interior and meets with the First Undersecretary of the ministry.

Today, Wednesday, September 15 / 09/ 2021, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences participated in the International Conference for the Recovery of Stolen Assets, represented by His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al-Banyan, with the participation of a number of Arab parties.

The conference discussed the most prominent obstacles facing the regulatory authorities in recovering assets and smuggled funds outside the borders of their countries.

 

In the opening speech of the conference, Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, said that his country had formed an anti-corruption committee that was able to uncover files that had been stuck for 17 years, and that money looted from abroad had been recovered during the last period. He also pointed out that the committee had made achievements despite being attacked by "false accusations", the aim of which was to thwart its work.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, considered in his speech, that the conference was an opportunity to combat corruption and that the Arab League pays great attention to it.

The Secretary of the League explained that the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention is a consolidation of the United Nations Convention, and 14 Arab countries have ratified the agreement.

The President of Naif Arab University, Dr. Al-Banyan, also delivered a speech in which he addressed the role of the university as an academic body for the Arab Interior Ministers Council in implementing Arab strategies and plans in the field of combating corruption and promoting integrity.

On the sidelines of the conference, the President of Naif Arab University visited Iraq's Ministry of Interior, where he met with the First Undersecretary of the ministry, a number of officials, and directors of training. Several issues of common interest were discussed during the visit within the framework of strengthening joint cooperation. ​
