Maria is the focal point for IOM’s Legal Identity for the Americas and has an understanding of migration policies and international frameworks, including legal identity, refugee resettlement, communications, data and public opinion, human trafficking and migration management. She co-authored IOM’s Global Handbook on “Communicating with Communities”. An alumna of the Oxford Refugee Studies Centre and a graduate of the European University, Maria has worked with donors such as ECHO, USAID, US-OTI, DFID and GIZ, initiating public-private partnerships for social development and humanitarian issues.
