Brief Biography:

Hilal joined IOM Bahrain as Head of the Migration and Border Governance Unit in 2023. Karim has 16 years of professional experience with sister UN agencies, prior to joining IOM. ​

Mr. Karim served for 11 years as a Programme Coordinator at the UNODC Regional Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council (OGCCR) based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. During that time, he coordinated UNODC’s work in combating transnational crime, including terrorism, trafficking and smuggling, as well as managing UNODC’s anti-money laundering programme with financial intelligence units. ​



Scientific and Professional Experience:​​

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University.​
