Introduction:

The Center contributes to developing the capabilities of security agencies to keep pace with future challenges facing Arab countries, especially as the Arab world is on the verge of significant development in various economic, financial, and social fields.

The center helps build a future security system to enhance security work techniques, including countering cybercrimes and maximizing the utilization of digital evidence.


Capacity Building:

The center provides services in human capacity building as well as developing standard operating procedures (SOPs): SOP​:


Academic Programs:

Under the supervision of the University's Academic Affairs, the center contributes to developing and providing specialized postgraduate programs in the fields of cybercrimes and digital forensics. These include a Higher Diploma and a Master of Science in Cybercrimes and Digital Criminal Investigation, with two tracks: Networks and Mobile Devices.​ ​


Guidelines:

The center develops guidelines that contribute to addressing emerging security challenges based on international best practices. This promotes enhanced cooperation among Arab countries.

Training Programs:

The center offers comprehensive training programs and independent training courses to prepare and qualify specialized personnel in the fields of cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, and crime reduction using modern technologies.

يقدم مركز التميز في الجرائم السيبرانية والأدلة الرقمية ثلاثة برامج تدريبية مكثَّفة في هذه المجالات المتخصصة لتطوير كفاءات عالية في مجال التحقيق الجنائي الرقمي، بهدف تمكينهم من التميز في الكشف عن الجرائم السيبرانية، وجمع الأدلة الرقمية من مسرح الجريمة باتباع القواعد والإجراءات الفنية والقانونية اللازمة، وتقديمها للجهات العدلية. كما يُنمِّي البرنامج لدى المتقدمين مهارات ومعارف وقدرات مرتبطة بوظائف التحقيق الرقمي حسب المرجعيات الدولية ذات العلاقة، ومن ضمنها: إطار كوادر الأمن السيبراني التابع للمبادرة الوطنية لتعليم الأمن السيبراني (NICE) ومتطلبات الاعتماد من الأكاديمية الأمريكية لعلوم الأدلة الجنائية (FEPAC) والإطار السعودي لكوادر الأمن السيبراني (سيوف). وتغطي هذه البرامج التدريبية مجموعة من الوظائف، هي:

  • Cyber Incident Response Specialist
  • Malware Reverse Engineering Specialist
  • ​ Digital Forensics Analyst

  • The programs encompass multiple levels, from foundational to advanced. These programs include a range of specialized training courses along with practical exercises (case studies) in collaboration with experts and practitioners from relevant entities. There is also an option to obtain a professional certification upon passing an exam, if desired by the beneficiary entities.

Consultancy Services:

  • Providing consulting services to develop the digital forensics environment and laboratories in beneficiary entities.
  • Seconding experts to security and judicial authorities.
  • Providing consulting services in the fields of cybercrimes, digital forensics, and emerging technologies.
 





Center Achievements:

  • The Master of Science program in Cybercrimes and Digital Criminal Investigation has obtained alignment with the Saudi Cybersecurity Higher Education Framework (Cyber-Education) issued by the National Cyber Security Authority of Saudi Arabia
  • The Center for Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics has been selected as part of the INTERPOL Expert Group on Metaverse.
  • The center assumed the chairmanship of the ITU Center of Excellence Network for the Arab region for 2022, as of December 20, 2021.
  • INTERPOL has recognized the training program for qualifying Cybercrime Investigations Specialists and the training program for qualifying Cyber Incident Response Specialists.
  • Published 31 research papers in the fields of cybercrimes, digital forensics, and artificial intelligence, including 13 papers in Q1 and 11 papers in Q2.​
  • Published students’ research in international journals and conferences with the following paper titles:

    - Google Chrome Forensics

    - IoT Forensics: Machine to Machine Embedded with SIM Card

    - Digital Forensic Investigation Framework for Dashcam









Community Awareness:

-The center targets all segments of society and decision-makers to raise awareness about safe online practices.

- The center has participated in several dialogues to increase awareness of security threats such as financial fraud and cyber-attacks. ​ ​​
