Objective :

​The objective of this team is to provide technical assistance to countries in the formulation of legislation aimed at combating human trafficking. This assistance is designed to align with international standards set forth in the International Human Rights Law, specifically the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons Especially Women and Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. The team operates in accordance with Article 14 of the said protocol, which states “Nothing in this Protocol shall affect the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of States and individuals under international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law”. The ultimate goal is to aid in the creation of laws that effectively meet the objectives outlined in the United Nations Protocol, which include the prevention and combating of trafficking in persons, the protection and assistance of trafficking victims, and the promotion of cooperation among states parties.
