Regional Law Enforcement Expert at the UNODC Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council Region
Mr. Salamone has been affiliated with UNODC since 2015, initially joining the UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa as a Regional Expert on Border Control. In this role, he assumed responsibility for overseeing and managing activities pertaining to border security and combating illicit cross-border trafficking.
Before commencing his tenure with UNODC, Mr. Salamone served as a Police Liaison Officer for Migration Affairs at the French Ministry of Interior. Stationed at the French Embassy in Egypt (Cairo) for four years (2011-2015), he specialized in various aspects of technical cooperation with Egyptian authorities and other international partners within the sub-region.
His professional journey also includes appointments at the French Directorate of International Police Cooperation, where he served as a Criminal Investigator in the Judicial Police Directorate in Paris (1998-2006). Subsequently, he assumed the role of Deputy Head of the Migration Investigation Unit within the French Border Police in Perpignan (2006-2011).
Mr. Salamone holds a Master's degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences with a specialization in International Program Management (NGOs - International Organization) from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France.
