Higher Diploma Program in Counterterrorism

The global threat of terrorism is escalating, with terrorist organizations employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to carry out their operations and implement recruitment and polarization strategies. Consequently, it has become imperative for security agencies to enhance their capabilities to combat terrorism and extremism comprehensively. This entails training specialized personnel to grasp the depth of the threat and the emerging operational mechanisms of extremist groups. Moreover, it involves equipping them with the skills to monitor these threats and leverage modern technological tools and scientific methodologies to dismantle these organizations and disrupt their ability to replenish their ranks and secure funding sources.

1 Special Admission Requirements:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines military sciences, police sciences, security sciences, political sciences, or humanities.

Graduation Requirements

Successfully completing the required program hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 5.00 within the specified timeframe necessary to fulfill the requirements for obtaining the academic degree.

2 Program Objectives:

  • Enhancing understanding of policies and advanced technologies in combating terrorism and addressing its contemporary challenges.
  • Equipping students with the requisite knowledge and skills to gather, analyze, and process data pertaining to terrorist threats.
  • Preparing specialized expertise and personnel well-versed in the foundational principles of contemporary terrorism issues and their legal frameworks.

3 Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of counterterrorism systems and overseeing strategic planning for response.
  • Applying modern methodologies in combating cyberterrorism and discerning the recruitment and polarization strategies employed by extremist organizations.
  • Directing counterterrorism operations through effective information gathering, criminal intelligence production, and professional data analysis.
  • Identifying the characteristics and operations of terrorist organizations, analyzing extremist ideologies, leadership tactics, operational methodologies, and financial activities, while also managing criminal investigations.
  • Grasping the concepts and complexities of terrorism, its historical evolution, and the legal protocols governing counterterrorism efforts at both national and international levels.
