Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) signed a partnership agreement with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the Gulf Cooperation Council Region (UNODC -OGCCR) to support the launch of the University's newly established Regional Expertise Centre for Combating Drugs and Crime.

The agreement was inked by the President of the University, Dr. Abdulmajeed Albanyan, and the Director of the UNODC's Regional Office, Judge Dr. Hatem Ali.

Dr. Albanyan said that the agreement comes as a part of the fruitful cooperation and constructive strategic partnership between the University and the United Nations institutions.

“Since signing the first partnership agreement in 2019, the University and the UNODC have carried 49 scientific and training activities, with the participation of 2,744 participants from 100 countries," Al-Banyan said.

Albanyan pointed out that the agreement will support efforts to establish the Regional Expertise Centre for Combating Drugs and Crime at NAUSS. It would help combating organized and cross-border crime and addressing the drug challenge, Albanyan confirms. He affirmed that the step supports the efforts of the international community to achieve security and stability.

Albanyan expressed his appreciation to the UNODC -OGCCR for its permanent cooperation and trust in Naif University and its programs.

For his part, Dr. Hatem Ali said the agreement enhances the existing cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest. He pointed out that the University is the main partner of the Office's program on developing law enforcement and criminal justice, and raising awareness of combating organized crime.

"Naif University plays a very important role in supporting the Arab security by focusing on capacity building for security cadres, providing them with the latest technologies, and informing them of the best practices related to their fields," Dr. Ali concluded.
